Ashford Win League Opener

Sequoia Belworthy had a debut to remember as Ashford started their league campaign with a win over Surrey Eagles.

The young debutant who joined Ashford in the summer stole the show in what was a very one-sided first half where the home side created plenty of opportunities only to be denied by the inform goalkeeper.

Belworthy finally opened the scoring on the half hour mark after Vicky James picked out the young winger on the right who raced clear the recovering defenders to slide the ball passed the goalkeeper.

It was more a feeling of relief than anything else after so many opportunities were missed however this goal rallied Ashford and soon after Ashley Chealtley doubled the home sides lead.

H/T 2-0

The second half was played in similar fashion with more chances created by the home side however after Irisha Smith grabbed another for Ashford, Surrey Eagles grabbed a quick goal shortly after and had a penalty saved late on.

F/T 3-1

A great game of football to watch for the neutrals in which, the victory is a vital one and, for a short time at least, takes Ashford joint top of the league.
