An Ashley Cheatley hat-trick helped Ashford Ladies to an impressive victory over Balham Panthers at The Robert Parker Stadium on Sunday morning.
The Tangerines’ striker Cheatley opened the scoring in the 11th minute, after she latched onto a Lauren Restel clearance which caught out Balhams’ defence, to loop the ball over the goalkeeper.
Six minutes later Cheatley got on the scoresheet again, with another Restel assist and capped the half off with her first hatrick of the season.
Balham were fierce competition and despite the scoreline, played some exciting football only to be denied in final third of the pitch by great defending.
The second half began with Ashford putting the away side on the back foot and Cheatley was played through after some great combination play with Holly Isaacs to power home and record Ashford’s fourth of the game.
Balham’s efforts were soon rewarded when they scored their first goal of the game.
On the hour mark Isaacs capped her first competitive debut in Ashford colours with a goal before Neufville wrapped up the victory.
We wish the opposition all the best for the season.
For Ashford it was a team performance to be proud of and leaves the Tangerines in high spirits as they prepare for their Capital Cup fixture next week against Surrey rivals, Chertsey Town.
